Intro
EASDALE FERRY OFFICE – ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION
The competition requires to focus on the renovation and extension of the small ferry hub which connects this unique Scottish island to the mainland.
The existing Ferryman’s Office and Passenger Waiting Room are quaint architectures located near the island’s edge: the first buildings to greet visitors and islanders as they disembark. There is an opportunity to renovate the current structures, which are already at the end of their lifespan, with new shelters that celebrate and capitalise on this unique natural context.
The new spaces would not only provide a refuge from harsh weather conditions but they would also offer suitable amenities for the residents and visitors of Easdale. By integrating thoughtful design and sustainable practices, the project could enhance the experience of arriving on the island, while meeting the practical needs of the local community.
