The first edition of the Richard Ingersoll Scholarship aims to provide opportunities for 50 talented students who may not have the financial means to participate in design competitions. The selected individuals will have the chance to showcase their skills and creativity by taking part in a TerraViva architecture contest completely for free during 2024.

By naming this scholarship in memory of professor Richard Ingersoll, founder and former director of TerraViva Workshop, we pay tribute to his legacy and vision, ensuring that his principles of inclusivity and equal opportunity for all students continue to inspire and guide future generations of architects and designers.

Requirements to apply:

  • Be currently enrolled in an architecture/urban planning/design university course anywhere in the world
  • Be under 30 years old
  • Belonging to a disadvantaged socio-economic context or situation

Selection criteria:

  • Quality of the portfolio: this scholarship aims to reward the most outstanding and talented students; therefore, their portfolio will be a key element during the selection of the scholarship recipients.
  • Motivation letter: in the application form, contestants must write a brief motivation letter in which they will describe both the socio-economic reasons that make them suitable to receive this scholarship as well as their academic merits that support their candidacy.

TerraViva team will carefully evaluate all the applications and select the winners according to these criteria.
